Hitchin Priory Rotary Club charity event

We’ve never been afraid to shy away from open air gigs, even when they are in February!

As a result, we have been invited back to play at a charity event organised by Hitchin Priory Rotary Club which is to be held in Hitchin Market Place on Saturday, 13th February 2010 where we will be playing from 2pm onwards.

Although there are several benefiting charities, the main one is the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth so come along and support a very worthy cause, not forgetting to bring warm clothing and a flask of hot tea (that’s white with no sugar for us)!

More rock ‘n’ roll classics added to our set list

We’ve been in rehearsals over the past few weeks working on some new material to add to our ever-increasing set list.

The first new songs to be introduced will be a medley consisting of two Chuck Berry songs followed by an instrumental that you’ll all know from 1958 by the band, The Champs.

Brown Eyed Handsome Man (Chuck Berry)
Tequila (The Champs)

We will also be shortly introducing:

Raining in my Heart (Buddy Holly)
Roll Over Beethoven (Chuck Berry)

Welcome to 2010! Hope you’re all enjoying the lovely weather we’re having in the UK right now.

We’ve an open-air charity gig coming up on Saturday, 13th February 2010 in Hitchin Market Place so we certainly hope it warms up before then!

Live Rock and roll MP3s

Whilst we’ve had a photo gallery and a video section on our website for a while, if you wanted to listen to, or download, some of our MP3s you had to mosey on over to our page on Lemonrock in order to do so.

Well, no more! You can now enjoy our authentic 50s and 60s rock and roll sounds just by pointing your browser to our shiny new audio section that we’ve included on this, our very own website.

New gigs confirmed

We’ve recently had the following new gig dates confirmed:

23rd January 2010: Private Function; Offley, Herts
13th February 2010: Hitchin Rotary Club; Market Place, Hitchin (Midday)
8th May 2010: Rotary Club; Stevenage

Yes, you read that correctly. Unlike these “fair weather” bands, we are playing an open-air gig in February. Hopefully, it won’t be too cold. Last year when we played at this event it wasn’t too bad, although the year before it was absolutely freezing! It is for charity and is usually held in aid of Garden House Hospice in Letchworth.

Potton and District Club

The weekend that was

As some of you may be aware, Paul, our slap bass player, was taken ill recently and was only discharged for hospital on Thursday of last week. In true muso spirit, despite not being fully fit, he was able to play on some numbers at our gigs over the weekend.

Phil from Hang Loose, an old friend of the band, was on hand to dep for Paul as and when needed and we’d like to thank Phil very much for all his help, especially as it meant he missed seeing ‘X-Factor’ and ‘I’m a celebrity get me out of here’ on Saturday night!

We’re sure that, like us, you’ll all want to wish Paul a full and speedy recovery.

We’ve recently had the following new gig dates confirmed:

27th November 2009: The Anchor; Hitchin, Herts
28th November 2009: Broadlakes Lodge Social Club; London Colney, Herts

Broadlakes Lodge Social Club

We’re off to Broadlakes Lodge Social Club in Shenley Lane, London Colney, Herts for a return gig on Saturday, 26th September 2009.

Doors open from 8pm and admission is £5.00 on the door.
